Solid Vinyl

Solid vinyl wallpaper is made completely of vinyl. It is waterproof, resistant to scratching and tearing, very durable and will hold up longer than other wall coverings. It is also easy to clean and holds up well in high traffic areas like children’s bedrooms and playrooms. It is also an ideal choice for bathrooms and kitchens where moisture and humidity levels run high.

Vinyl Coated

Vinyl coated is the most common type of wallpaper. The wallpaper is paper coated with a protective layer of acrylic vinyl. The acrylic makes the wall covering easy to clean, as well as resistant to heat, humidity, and grease. High-traffic areas, -kitchens, bathrooms, family rooms, and children’s bedrooms – should make use of this durable wallpaper. You can scrub dirt and crayon marks off without fear of the paper ripping. Vinyl coated wallpaper is often preferred over solid vinyl wallpaper because it is much easier to remove.

Paper Backed Vinyl

Paper backed vinyl is thicker than many other types of wall coverings and provides greater durability. It is moisture and stain resistant, is washable, and suits most areas of a house. However, installation has to be done extra carefully, as high humidity may cause the paper and vinyl sheets to separate from each other. With long-term or repeated overexposure to humidity, the wallpaper will gradually pull away from the wall and must be replaced.

Fabric Backed Vinyl

Fabric backed vinyl is made up of a layer of fabric laminated to a sheet of solid vinyl. The backing has a woven fabric, and the vinyl facing provides the patterns and decorative finishes. Many intricate designs have been printed on this type of wallpaper. It is also easy to clean, and highly durable, this wall covering is an excellent choice for high-traffic areas such as entryways, kid’s rooms, dens, kitchens, and bathrooms. Fabric backed vinyl can also hide surface imperfections. When the time comes to remove this wall covering it peels away effortlessly in full strips, providing the wall was properly primed.

Apart from choosing a beautiful colour or a great design, it is important that the consumer is aware of the different materials used to make the wallpaper. New materials are continually developing, and manufacturers are always improving. Knowing which material is suitable for your walls will help you to decide about the best way to cover your walls.
