Yes, a designer who listen to client's requirment and contribute ideas soundly. Very detail in her work that will reduce a lot of dispute later. Willing to compromise when there are misunderstanding in teams of design vs actual.

Know what you want, plan your budget realistically before engaging a designer. Pick a designer who will listen to your needs, design practically other then just aesthetically nice.

Jaslyn was very prompt in responding to emails and always very accommodating. She listens to what we want and suggest changes where needed and does not impose her ideas onto us.

Take your time to shop around and best to work with people with whom you have the chemistry. Each individual has different requirements and standards and what works for one may not work for others so even if a designer or firm is highly recommended by others, you still need to find the chemistry before going into it.

Definitely! My ID provided very good service. She listened to our needs attentively and the instant viewing of design amendments on her laptop enabled us to make informed decisions and accelerated the whole renovation process. She was ever patient and gave us plenty of useful advice. The after-sales service was also good as she responded promptly when we contacted her even though it was long past the handover date.

My advice would be to allow ample time to search for a suitable ID. It's also beneficial to meet up with different IDs as we did pick up useful ideas & advice from meeting different IDs.

I was quite impressed with Harry even before he can clinch the deal due to his dedication, design ideals, home work and thought process compared to other renovators. He has accompanied me throughout the process to mitigate the challenges, recommended good vendors and meeting our expectations and satisfying our choices.

Ashely is an extremely creative and easy going professional. It is important for an ID to be open and understand what the client wants. Ashley does not pushes her own ideas and style without considering the customers needs and comfort level. Like any renovations there will always be situation that requires give and take and Ashley is accommodating and provide the necessary solutions in those moments. It is important to select a good ID as he or she is your partner in creating your dream home. Ashely has those good quality.

Approach with an open mind. While it is important that you have an ID that listen to what you want, it is also necessary for you to listen to their opinion and advice. A good ID will give you sound advice as they are doing this work day in and day out. We do not know what we don't know. So do ask and listen and then decide.

Our experience with Edmund was really pleasant . He was not the first ID we approached for a quote but he was the first ID that told us to minimise carpentry works and go for loose furnitures instead. The bulk of renovation cost comes from the carpentry works (if you are not doing flooring) and we believe that's where the profit comes from for most ID. His suggestion caught us by surprise and we knew immediately he really had the interests of the client at heart and not profit driven. During the design phase, he always points out the pros and cons of choosing certain materials, designs or layouts. He ensures that we understood the possible cons of each of our decisions and that these are the downsides we can accept. He is realistic and practical and that's all we ever asked for in an ID. Edmund constantly updates us on the progress of the renovation and briefed us in advance on the next course of actions. Being first time home owners, this thoughtful step helped us make sound decisions for the building of our home. The project went on schedule and we were very pleased with the quality of the materials used as well as the works of the Contractors. Yes I would recommend this ID, reason being that Jaslyn follows up closely and remembers all the nitty gritty details about what I need for the design and the color scheme. She also coordinates very well with the contractors, she's patient, and very responsive. She even went the extra mile to help me out with a lot of things including the touch ups which was not included in the quotation. Jaslyn definitely value adds to the service rendered.

Basically have some pictures of what you want so that you can show the designer as a rough idea of what you are looking for. It also helps a lot to ask designer for the photos of their past projects so that you can see their workmanship which can help a lot in your decision making process.
