House Type: HDB 4-Room

ID Firm:

Designer(s): Wayne

Budget: $20k - $30k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes, I will recommend the ID to other friends. He was always available to answer our queries. Tried to accommodate the changes which we mentioned even if it was difficult. Quite well planned. Completed things within timeline Easy to approach. Tried to make his technician understand what actually we are looking at. Has friendly nature. Takes time to ponder over and then give firm answer about do able and not do able things .

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Depends whether it is a resale flat is renovated form or is a raw one. Also please be firm with the budget . Many things are time consuming so pushing the ID to do it quickly wont work. Flooring is important discuss with family members on the type of flooring needed. Space for keeping electronics are imp too. Design of the wardrobes should be customized based on the needs whether you need sliders or not. Always ask and listen to ID , they have experience and can guide right.

House Type: Private apartment

ID Firm:

Designer(s): Keats

Budget: $90k and above

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes, I will recommend them to my friends. Keats was very easy to work with and made all of our ideas come to life. He also had many useful recommendations of his own. The work was completed in a timely fashion and he was always responsive when we needed something. He has also been very good at following up with us post-renovation whenever we needed a touch-up or wanted to do additional work on our apartment.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Start by looking at magazines or friends’ apartments for ideas.

Take pictures so that you can clearly describe your vision for your apartment to you interior decorator and your contractor.

Have realistic expectations for the timeline of your renovation … you don’t want to rush work just to save a couple of weeks if it causes problems later on.

Try to be present as much as possible during your renovation so that you can track progress and make adjustments if necessary. Pay attention to little details, e.g., if you want a certain bathtub, make sure you get a water heater that has enough capacity to work with that bathtub!

ID Firm:

Designer(s): Vincent Tan

Budget: $20k - $30k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Definitely. He caters to every of our request and give proper advice on what is the best materials, lightings and other miscellaneous stuffs. He works well with the given budget and constantly updating us on the progress made. Up till this date, if there is any defect that requires touch up, he will immediately send someone to rectify the problem. I have been recommending my friends to him and everyone else feels the same way. My house turns out to be the exact way I have been dreaming of.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Advice to future homeowners is to always do thorough research on the company they wish to engage for the renovation works. Remember that with quality comes the price. Hence do not settle for the less as your house is the number one thing worth investing on. Always make sure that the designer will be there to supervise the contractor and constantly updating you on the progress. Do not rush the project but set a date that both you and the designer agree on for the handover.

House Type: HDB 5-Room/Exec/Mansionette

ID Firm:

Designer(s): Keats & team

Budget: $90k and above

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Keats and team provided very personal service, with attentiveness to our requirements and details. We had many rounds of discussions about the design concept, work flow, on-site challenges, and all sorts of ideas to overcome these challenges in order to ensure that the project was delivered on time without compromising quality.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Communicate, be patient, spend time and efforts to communicate with your designer and the team of contractors. It will take more than once to get your ideas across, so build the rapport takes time. Be clear of what you want and stay with the plan. And of course, do pay double attention to what you can afford and what you wish for. Enjoy the journey.
