James has very good sense in design and color. He is able to incorporate functional requirements into something aesthetically pleasant. I like his simple and yet functional design. He is good in using lights to enhance the appeal. He also provides good advice in term of matching other furniture, lightings and fixtures. James was attentive to my detailed requests but that also meant that it took longer to come to the final design with multiple iterations. Though there was some delay due to hiccups during the actual works, James was able to rectify the situation or provide alternatives. He also followed up with defect rectification after completion of renovation. I would recommend James to someone who is not in a hurry to complete the renovation and highly value good design. He can come out with what you want and what you like.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Spending more time with your ID at the beginning in coming out with what you need and want and eventually what you like too before commencement of work. Though hiccups are unavoidable, good planning will ensure minimum delay to the schedule.

First impression of my ID James was my almost immediate instinct pull the trigger to seal the contract with him after 5 minutes of the meet up. That’s coz of his good attitude and sincerity toward his customer . And what had impressed me is his super patience toward my parents, as they tend to be abit nagging and literally they expected perfect work, he still patiently listen to their need, this is a plus point. As for the design and the damaged cost, he is quite accommodating and help us to work within the budget. Lastly, despite there was some hiccups here n there, James still remain professional to settle every of our issues.

A well planning is still a planing : a plan can never catch up with the unforeseen changes. Regardless how perfect the ID has planned, there will still have a little flaw here n there (that’s Murphy’s law !) so its based on the individual’s magnitude of acceptance. Would suggest not to spend much time to compare so many ID companies, instead choose with Casetrust Reno company and an ID who is honest and willing to put in effort to do your renovation which I think Urban Design have it all.

My 30+ year’s old condo needs a thorough renovation. My friend recommended Urban Design and so we engaged James Tok as our ID. James is a very responsive, dedicated and approachable person whom you can 100% rely on. He gives professional recommendations and ideas about home design based on our needs and budget. He is frank and there is no hidden cost. He always listens to us and gets things done on schedule. He personally looks after everything and oversees the whole process while keeping us updated with every detail. Minor issues were rectified immediately. The whole renovation was smooth and the works were completed on schedule. Urban design offers 5-years post Reno warranty which is very important to my point of view. Alex is a very responsible ID. Any minor defects pointed out was rectify as soon as possible. Good workmanship for the cabinets, painting etc. Works was carry out on all schedules discussed. Very detailed person. Definately worth the money.

Clear communication have to be done between ID and owner. Be realistic on budget when working with ID. Do not expect a good work on a short schedule.

After consulting eight IDs for the renovation of my resale flat, I decided to engage Edward. The reasons included Urban Design House's accreditation, the 5-year guarantee for workmanship, a competitive package but most importantly, Edward's work ethic and professionalism. Right from the start, I enjoyed working with Edward as he took time to understand the different preferences my mum and I had, and proposed designs that we both like. He was quick to come back with quotations and responsive to my questions. He knew I was in a rush to move, so he ensured the planning and selection of materials were completed while I was waiting for the flat. During the renovation, he planned a tight work schedule, was attentive to details and kept me updated frequently. I could go about my daily routines with complete ease of mind as I was assured that the renovation was handled competently. My home renovation was also completed within the projected time-frame, which gave me sufficient time to move. I am also really pleased with how the home turned out and the workmanship is great. Friends who have seen photos of my flat are also full of compliments. There were some minor rectifications required and Edward is always quick to follow up. It can be very overwhelming talking to so many IDs and after a while you probably would feel that many firms offer similar designs or procure from similar vendors. So what is more important is to find a designer who understands your needs, is able to offer alternatives suggestions, and whom you can communicate with. Ask to see some of the designers' ongoing projects so that you can have a sense of workmanship, and leave some budget for variation orders.

Louis conducts himself professionally throughout the whole process. During pre-engagement period, he listened patiently to our requirements. He explained everything to us upfront and also offered sound advice when our ideas were not ideal. During the reno period, he coordinated with the sub -con quite smoothly. He was also very flexible to accommodate some of our last minute requirements. And he is definitely a man of his words, trustworthy. For example, during contract signing, the contract included a cost for painting. I said I may paint the house by myself if time permits. Louis said he would cancel the item if I do so. Eventually I painted the house by myself and Louis indeed cancelled the item. The after sales was important too. I marked out a number of defects on the carpentry and he rectified all of them to my satisfaction. There's even a 5 year warranty offered to us.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

I never knew how useful and important 3D drawing was until Louis did up one for us. 3D drawing helped us to visualise the house before it was renovated and it turned out to be almost the same. It also helped to resolve dispute amicably. For instance, one small area turned out to be quite different from the 3D drawing as the laminate colour was too dark. Although the whole cabinate was up already, Louis agreed to change it for us free of charge. We were quite surprised cos we knew how much work was involved to change it. It's important to maintain a trusting, respectful and cordial relationship with your ID. I regard Louis as a friend more than my ID.

YESS!! We highly recommend our ID, Mr Edward Sey from Urban Design House. He was warm, patient, thoughtful, dependable and dedicated and always provided us great design ideas, with practical purposes for our new home. We are extremely satisfied with his professional service and of course, our new home renovation works!! Edward always provided us advices, from a homeowner's perspective. When we first met him, he did really presented to us with his professional knowledge & lots of patience when we threw some questions to him. The end results are similar to that of the 3D design with good materials and warranty. Price quoted are reasonable and aligned to market. Even after moving in, Alex would go the extra mile of service to check in periodically to ensure all is well. I have gained a friend instead of an interior designer and we are still keeping in touch. Yes we will definitely recommend Urban Design to other home owners. We engaged Spenser to be our ID for our 4room BTO flat as recommended by my colleague. When we first discussed with Spenser regarding what kind of design we want, he gave us practical advises and help us refined our design. We were in a hurry to move in by Chinese New Year and Spenser really tried his best to arrange everything he can so that he can handover to us before CNY. Thumbs up to him for meeting this tight timeline! However there were still some touching up work to do after handover and Spenser was quick to arrange everything after their CNY break. He is also very particular with his work, and he will make sure everything is alright, otherwise he will redo for us. Overall we are very satisfied with he service. We feel very comfortable talking to him and will definitely recommend him to our friends. Lastly, we feel secure with urban design as they are under case trust. We have heard numerous horror stories of contractors running away. But rest assured, urban design is a reputable company that we can trust our home with.

Firstly before we decide which interior designer to pick, we make a few appointments with different IDs and ask for advice with our stated budget and also on a concept which we wanted, what can they do for us. There was one Interior designer saying that he/she will give us the "best price", listed out quotations and give us a sketch drawing. When we look at the drawing, it was not actually to what we wanted. The designs were too simple and we think he/she didn't cater it to our likings. And also we would say that "simple" designs were too "expensive" to our stated budget. So we have to consider the offer. The next interior designer we met.. we told him/her what we want and with that stated budget. This one is not pretty sure wether he/she seem interested and also willing to help. First of all,whenever we text him/her for updates, it will take a few days to reply us back and always gave us the reason that he/she is quite busy. As we discuss further, we ask questions if or wether to have this or to do this. The reply was, if we want nice and willing to come out "more" money, he/she can do everything for us. We were slightly disappointed and feel it's a waste of our quality time to meet this interior designer. We decided Not to take him/her. While still looking for other IDs to compare, we remembered a friend of ours who was going to be our neighbour soon. So we asked which contractor did she engaged and also how much was her renovation. Hers was from Urban Designs. She gave us the email and told us if we interested, we can ask them. Thus, we just email and enquire Urban designs for quotations. The next day, we got a call from Louis Urban Design and we set up an appointment with him. Upon meeting with him, we told him our budget and also the concept that we wanted. He was very very helpful, he tentatively listened to our needs and at times when we need advice from him on what to do or if it's necessary to have, he is willing to help and assist us through out. He promised us that with our tight budget, he can pull off the concept that we wanted. After the meeting we were quite pleased and we decided to cater him as our interior designer. On our next appointment, we discussed further with our quotations and he explained in detail what was listed down. We felt that Louis's quotations was way better and also within our budget. Whenever during the renovation period, Louis is always around to see the renovation and will take pictures to show us when we were busy and couldn't come to take a look on the renovation works. He will clear our doubts if there is any small hiccups along the way. The 3D draft design which Louis had did for us, realistically turned out well in the end. Definitely we will recommend Louis Leng from Urban Designs. Good Job Louis!

We will advise future homeowners not to rush when choosing the right interior designer. All of these needs a lot of time and planning. We should not always depend on the Interior Designer as all of us have different point of views. Interior Designers will advise u accordingly on the concept you want however it's all up to the homeowners themselves to plan and work on the end product of their new house. I would recommend Chris for his good work attitude and his promptness in responding to our renovation request. He was willing to co-ordinate with my other contractors to ensure that the renovation progress as planned. Chris is a very practical designer. He does not recommend design that are too sophisticated. He works with our budget given and of course sometime it does over the budget. Yes. James has been really helpful throughout the whole "process". Right from the start, he was able to give constructive ideas as well as take in ours ideas. We feel that it is important for a designer to "listen" to the client's needs. During the renovation, he coordinated the jobs properly to ensure no hiccups. I was on a tight schedule and he was able to work around my schedule. Must give him credits for that. The contractors he had engaged on the different works produced quality work. His carpenter is honest and helpful and customer-oriented. On the whole, it was quite a "seamless" renovation process with no "headaches". I'm sure this is what most homeowners want.
