Dream Home: A Parisian Chic Home

23 Aug 2017

Dream Homes

When you step inside Junice and Brandon’s home, you are immediately transported to some glamorous European city – but that was the whole idea. Elegant, sophisticated and gently illuminated with statement lighting, their chic Parisian-inspired home is a credit to the designers from D’Initial Concept. We were enchanted.

HomeRenoGuru: How did you come to engage D’Initial Concept to renovate your home?

Brandon: We chanced upon D’Initial Concept during a home fair, after spending several months looking for a suitable ID firm for us. We actually met up with our designers. They came up with initial 3D drawings to show us how the finished work would look, and we decided to give D’Initial Concept a go.

HomeRenoGuru: What was your brief to your designers?

Junice: We wanted to bring in all our travels because we used to travel a lot. We were always very intrigued by the European architecture, so we decided that our theme would be ‘Parisian chic’.

HomeRenoGuru: How was the actual renovation process?

Brandon: The home renovation process went pretty smoothly. Our designers responded immediately when we asked them to incorporate some furniture from our previous home, like our Chinese chest, our sofas and a bed, into the interior design of the new home.

HomeRenoGuru: What do you love most about your new home?

Junice: My favourite part of the home would be my master bedroom, because of the intricate detailings on the walls as well as the fact that our designers actually took the extra effort to source for some of the very intricate details. I really like my walk-in wardrobe because there’s a continual flow of the detailing.

Brandon: My favourite part of the house is the kitchen. Actually that’s where the main work and the main reno happened, because we broke down a whole wall to make an open concept kitchen. If we want to do any heavy cooking, we can close it up and still interact with the kids or guests while we’re preparing dishes in the kitchen.

Junice: Since we spend a lot of time in the living room, we really appreciate our closed-up, concealed storage.

Brandon: We love our designer’s idea in designing the lightings throughout, through the corridors all the way through to the bedrooms.

Junice: I really like the children’s bedroom. For the colours, we chose yellow, Jaedon’s favourite colour and blue, which is Jaerus’s – and combined these two colours.

Brandon: I think for future homeowners you have to take your time to find a suitable and a good ID firm and a good designer as well. And on top of this, of course they must meet your budget.
