Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

I would definitely recommend Benson. He was very approachable and was willing to listen to our requirements. Benson had many interesting concepts and he was able to sketch his concepts out in free hand for our understanding and review. He was also very particular about the workmanship quality of his contractors and would often instruct his contractors to rework any items that were not to his satisfaction. Benson also provides very good after sales support and till this date, he is still providing services for minor repairs or improvements to my place.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Do some research and decide on the design theme before discussing with any designers. Would advise them to engage at least 3 different interior designers for discussion and obtain budgetary quotes. Request to visit some of the completed projects by the various designers and also to gather feedback from those home owners

Yes. We have been engaging Benz Design for our last 2 homes. He provides one stop service from consultation to design and sees through the coordination work which is most ideal for the consumer. He knows what the customer wants and delivers it with passion in his work. Not withstanding his after sales service which is highly commendable.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Benz Design (Benson) always makes it a point to ensure renovation timelines are not delayed and quality not compromised by personally managing his contractors. Benson always hold his customers interest in top priority by doing his best to complete renovation before the target completion date. He has a keen eye to details and personally works with his contractors to produce quality work.

Yes, Benson has lots of creative ideas and willing to listen to the dreams of the owner. After sales service is good. Project Manager Raymond is also accommodating .

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Ensure the ID project manager cater more time for air-con installation in case your own purchase air-con cannot come in time. Usually ID and project manager are not specialised in electrical. And their sub-con don’t really provide good electrical info Prior to the installation. Do your own research and tell them what u want if possible.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Benson make an effort to understand our need and expectation before he start coming up with renovation proposal. He also allocated some of his time to accompany us for shopping of furniture and fittings to ensure it matched the renovation concept & wall colors. Benson & his team understood the urgency for us to move in early December, despite commencing renovation late (start only after hungry Ghost festival), renovation was completed (floor tiles reasonably good workman ship) within 12 weeks with constant monitoring & follow up of his team. Although there was addition cost incurred due to fine tuning of renovation when the renovation result is not satisfactory (some may be due to our request to change in the middle of renovation) or misaligned from initial design concept). Benson rectified other the defects due to the inferior workmanship asap to ensure the renovation will be completed within our timeline. Last but not least, after sale service is still available even till today (1yr + after handing over the house), Benson will still response to our complaints and rectify them asap.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Firstly, factor in some buffer time for renovation ( not considering delays in material for last min changes), as it don’t usually get it right for the first time. Additional time usually required to do some modification along the way ( e.g. realized need plastering of the top celling after installation of the lights- ripple of top celling surface (HDB quality) become very obvious). We usually will tend to push the contractor for some small changes here or there during the renovation, so I believe it will reasonable to accept some trade off and agreed access risk. Secondly, some supervision is still required during the installation of the electrical wirings, as they are usually concealed. Problem will surface only after some time after taking over the house. E.g. Contractor used wrong wire diameter for the heater tank, resulting electrical trip &black out/damaged heater coil after 6month. We have to boil water from stove and shower in kampong style. We also have to take leave from office to wait for technician to come inspect and repair. For LED lighting, suggest to purchase from more reliable manufacturer, as it will be painful as the heater issue when it keep having problem.

Yes, i have recommended the designer to a few friends. He is good in conceptualizing his ideas and has good taste. He was also patient and guided us through discussions to ensure that there is mutual agreement and satisfaction. During any selection discussions, he would always provide various suggestions for review and then gave his recommendations based on our comments. He took a personal interest in the ongoing work throughout the renovation to ensure that the workers are doing their job and well.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Do a lot of homework and research and be able to articulate your requirements and expectations properly and clearly to the designer. Set up a time line in agreement with the designer. Keep in constant contact with the designer to ensure that time lines are met. Always check the ongoing renovations and quality of the work so that any changes can be effected quickly.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Absolutely - Benson is patient, willing to listen and very considerate of homeowner’s needs without being pushy about his ideas. He offers his ideas and opinions and yet is still willing to work with input from stakeholders. He also responds to requests for even after the project is completed and handed over.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

My advise to future homeowners are be very specific about what you want down to color, size, measurement and position to avoid any misinterpretation by workmen.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

This ID was very patient and would keep our preference in his mind. He came up with a couple of designs for us to choose and he also put the consideration for space when it came to design layouts to ensure that we can move around comfortably. Also, he would highlight the quality workmanship by stating the pros and cons. At one time, there were many beautiful patterns to choose for flooring and he managed to narrow down to suitable ones for our design theme. His design ideas are creative.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

As renovation may be costly, do research on what you like to have for your home first and it will be easier in the later process so that you know what you want for your home. Try to work that out within your budget too. At the time of planning, do enjoy every moment of it.
