Peter and I would like to thank you both May and Michelle and your team of contractors for an excellent job well done on the renovation of our home in Country Park. It was so easy to work with Meter Square on the renovation project. Not only did you listen and accommodated our inputs and suggestions, you also gave us tasteful, good and practical design ideas. In fact the most important concern for us on the renovation was because we were based overseas, we could not travel back and forth to oversee the project. However our concern proved not an issue at all. Apart from 2 travels to Singapore to confirm the bathroom, kitchen accessories and curtains, May and Michelle oversaw the project for us from beginning to end during our absence. They responded timely to any queries we had, and updated us on the progress of renovation with pictures taken via WhatsApp in a group chat. We are extremely pleased with the level of commitment and dedication the team at Meter Square had given to our renovation. The quality, material and craftsmanship of the contractors far exceeded our expectations. We only received good and positive compliments from visitors who have seen our beautifully renovated home. Overall, the project was well managed and completed right on time. Indeed Peter and I have no hesitation to recommend May and Michelle of Meter Square to any of our family and friends.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Chose a reputable and established ID. Beside pricing, profile of the company need to be considered carefully. Do your scouting and homework, do not rush into making a quick decision based on cheap quotes.

It was with great pleasure that we commend on May Chang and Belmont Chang from Meter Square for a job well done. It was amazing to work with them both! May and Belmont was recommended by a friend who had glowing praises for their work. We had a very challenging offer the work had to be completed within 30 days. The work entailed complete hacking of the living area, 2 toilets and kitchen. After being declined by several Interior Designers, May and Belmont, after an initial tentativeness undertook the challenge. Upon undertaking the challenge, the commitment that was shown to us was very reassuring. When the work commenced we received daily updates from Belmont of the work as it progressed and they made every attempt to comply with their tight schedule. They offered and guided through the process from design to finishing touches. This instilled our confidence and further, all our suggestions and requests were acted upon promptly without delay.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

They have an excellent eye for design and colour and this is manifested in their creativity. They made our visualisation of our home the way it should be into a beautiful home. They made it all possible without compromising on standards and quality. We strongly recommend Meter Square! May and Belmont are GREAT, you will be so glad you did!

ID Firm: Meter Square Pte Ltd

Designer(s): Daphne Gan

Budget: $70k - $80k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Before the renovation even took place, the first thing that Lynn and I both agreed on was to have a Scandinavian look for the place. We had went through many photos of homes with different styles, and what stood out to us (about the Scandinavian look) was how it emphasised the use of light hues and natural materials, which we really liked. However, we were aware that there were certain elements that we couldnā€™t include because of the lack of space. For instance, itā€™s easy to bring out a ā€˜tallā€™ look in a home with high ceilings, but thatā€™s hard to do in an HDB flat. We also werenā€™t really strict with applying Scandinavian decor principles and elements to the space, so long it looked well put together and matched our vision. In general, there were a lot of things about the original flat that had to go. We opened up the kitchen, so there was plenty of hacking there. All of the walls were torn down, save for the one thatā€™s next to the stove. The same applies for the flooring in the living room, bathrooms and kitchen. Also, there was a partition between the master bedroom and the adjacent study that we tore down to expand the space. The only thing that we didnā€™t change was the bedroomā€™s parquet flooring, which we felt was still in relatively good condition. We bought our furniture from various places. some were from local stores like King Living, Ethnicraft, and Blafink, others we brought back from our overseas trips. For example, our dining set was purchased during a furniture exhibition at Singapore Expo, itā€™s a special, made-in-Germany piece that has a ceramic top, which is resistant to heat. However, the supplier mainly provides furniture to hotels, so they are kind of off-the-grid when it comes to regular consumers. The living roomā€™s standing lamp and the fish-shaped mobile that you see hanging above the kitchen are from Finland, which we visited after our renovation. Carrying them back by hand was hard! Besides the furniture, we also needed to shop for big ticket items like electrical appliances. And to be frank, I underbudgeted for those items. Other than that, the bathroom was also a challenge due to the amount of debris that had to be cleared, and also because we wanted a change in tile colours. Fortunately, Daphne was around to assist as she visited tile showrooms with us to give us a better idea of our options. We worked with Daphne of Meter Square. She has a good eye for what (idea) works and what doesnā€™t. Sheā€™s also very direct, yet tactful about her suggestions. For example, at the start, we thought of closing off the kitchen with glass, but Daphne pointed out that it would look too clunky and that we would lose access to the kitchen counter from the walkwayā€™s direction due the barrier. After some thought, we realised she was right, and we scrapped the idea. Thanks Daphne and Meter Square for giving us a house we love and making the entire process smooth and being a joy to work with.

Thank you to May, our designer from Meter Square, for the good quality and service and coordination of the renovation works at our new house. This was the second time we have engaged her as our designer, and as always, she was professional, patient and responsive throughout our engagement. We were also very pleased with the overall design, esp the carpentry workmanship. Glad that we have chosen Meter Square as the interior designer of our house again, and thank you again for the great service! Weiting & Daniel Choo

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Do online research on the theme of the design. A picture tells a thousand words so it is easier to show your ID a picture of similar designs to explain what you have in mind. Be open and speak to as many IDs as possible. You will learn something new from every ID you talk to which helps to evaluate the ID that will be able to meet your needs. Ask to view completed projects to look at the workmanship.

For a first time home owner, the prospect of finding and engaging a reputable interior design firm to handle our renovation can be quite a daunting challenge. Fortunately for us, we only needed to meet with a few IDs before we quickly chose Mint from Meter Square due to our rapport with her and her knowledge and experience. What set Mint apart from the other IDs we met is that not only was she able to understand what kind of Scandinavian concept we wanted , she also provided a few interesting ideas that we liked which were eventually incorporated into our home. Throughout the whole renovation Mint was very prompt and proactive in resolving any issues that came up. Thanks to her efforts, the renovation went very smoothly and she also ensured that any issues which surfaced after the handover were addressed quickly. Overall, it was a pleasant experience working with Mint and Meter Square and we highly recommend them to any homeowners looking for IDs.

We decided Ah A from Meter Square as our renovation company due to recommendation from Friend. Together with his designer May, they are very experienced, give good suggestions always response promptly to all the requests and able to solve it without dragging. Ah A has a very neat and detailed project management schedule and he sticked to it very closely. We were upgrading from HDB and the schedule was back to back. To avoid ABSD and avoid moving to an interim place, we need to have all the renovation completed in 10 weeks (major renovation). Ah A handled the timeline very well and he actually delivered the premises in 8 weeks without compromising the quality of his work. He does not give the lowest quotes compared to others but we were rest assured after checking the workmanship and by the way he follow up with us. Definitely we will recommended him and Meter Square to friends and family.

We will recommended Meter Square to friends and family. Looking for experienced designer is very important due to limited timeline & schedule. We also look into after sales services are important to us.

This is our very first home project. We don’t have much in mind but we know we want a place where we can relax, stay cosy and feel right at home every single day! We get to know Mint, our interior designer, through my friend who just finished her renovation. We did not shop around for other IDs as I was told Mint was extremely engaged in her work and Meter Square does a great job and fine quality work. These are simply the factors we are seeking. After the first meeting with Mint, we immediately sense her enthusiasm as well as her fervent for home designing. We knew she was definitely the person who will give her best shot and do an awesome job. Although there were only a couple of meeting and on-site review with Mint prior to the project kick-off, the meeting was efficient and productive. She knew our requirements and drew up blueprint for tv unit and storages were appealing. Hence, the changes to her design was minimum as it fits nicely to our needs. We would like to compliment her execution ability as well as accountability. All of our questions were dealt almost instantly and it makes us feel we are being treated with high priority, which I believe this is one of the factors most customers value as of great significance. We were extremely happy with the overall design and quality of the work. The best news is the total renovation cost was well within our budget. Appreciate both Meter Square and Mint for their hard work and they truly deserve our recommendation if anyone is seeking to upgrade or renovate their home!

We engaged May and Michele sometime in May 2018 before we collect our keys to our new place which we planned to do an overhaul renovation. After speaking to few IDs, we are most impressed with the open kitchen layout proposal from May and Michele as well as their attention to fine details. Their meticulous approach of going through every single design and work with us gave much assurance to us especially we are both quite hectic with our work. During the project, they were responsive to our calls and WhatsApp messages, and able to deliver the place to us by our required deadline without compromising the quality of their workmanship. We have moved in to our new place for 2 months now, yet they are always accommodating with our request to touch up certain things. Well done to May, Michele and Meter Square’s Team!

I decided to engage Mint as there was trust and open communication. I had a very clear direction and idea of what I wanted to do with my home, and she was very understanding and accommodating given the fact that she was the designer. She did not insist on what was nice to her but rather what was suited to my needs based on my descriptions. It helps also that she was understanding of my budget and specific requirements, and went out of her way in many occasions to meet our project. End of the day, even though there was minor hiccups with certain parts of the renovation, she consistently ensured that the problems were rectified, hence the whole renovation went on very smoothly and was completed on time. We really appreciate her honesty and professionalism , and we definitely would recommend her from Meter Square!

Budget: $50k - $60k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes, i would like to recommend Meter Square. Back in Nov 2017, I was sourcing for an interior designer for my newly purchased home. It was my first engagement to engage an ID and I had a very tight time schedule to complete my renovation so that I could hand-over my old place. After sourcing through a few ID, I finally appointed Lvin from Metersquare. Lvin has great creative ideas and service oriented mindset. Though my new home comes with only 3 bedrooms, I require one more room for my dad and book storage. Unlike the other ID, Lvin listened to my needs and proposed a very innovative idea of a convertible room with a pulled down bed and book shelves. It met all my needs while retain the spacious feel of my living hall. He solved my problem perfectly! It was a holiday season and I needed to move in end Jan 2018, Lvin was personally managing the project tightly to ensure timeline was met. Even when there was usual renovation issues, Lvin was quick and positive to resolve them with great customer service level and attitude. I am thankful that our family was able to move into our new place on-time and we love our design greatly!

House Type: Condominium

ID Firm: Meter Square Pte Ltd

Designer(s): Mint Ng

Budget: $90k and above

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

It had been almost 10 years since we carried out a major house renovation. Things in the house were in need of a major renewal as many items continued to deteriorate into a state of disrepair, for example the waterproofing in the wet areas was giving way and we had to arrange piecemeal servicing to grout leakages through the slab for our neighbour below. Rather than expending on short term remedials, we decided it was timely to invest on a more lasting and durable form of overhaul. Incidentally, it came to our awareness that our neighbour had just completed renovation of their house under the management of Meter Square. Through such a sheer coincidence, we decided to give Meter Square a try to design and renovate our house. Of course, prior to making that decision, we reviewed the product that was delivered to my neighbour by Meter Square. We must commend that the quality of work as manifested was impressive and without further doubt, we sealed our decision to appoint them as our designer cum contractor. We began a series of in depth consultations with Mint Ng, our designer. This was carried out regularly on Sundays as it was our only day available outside our work regime. Right from the start, Mint has been accommodating to our schedule. She would not hesitate to set aside her weekends to meet us and discuss the details of the renovation. She is experienced and resourceful and is always teeming with various concepts and ideas for us to consider. She is attentive to our needs and requirements and as such, solutions that were dispensed were undeniably practical and appropriate. She does not unnecessarily hasten us on our decision making but is fair in offering us more than enough time to deliberate. Mint is also patient and would often guide us through to rationalise the pros and cons among different options as we attempt to make selections. Mint is well versed on technicalities and her proposals and products offered advised well on meeting functional requirements and concurrently seek to establish a balance between quality and cost effectiveness yet without compromising on opulence. To help us conceptualise and visualise the outcome of the designs, Meter Square presented 3D renderings to us, and improvements could be made based on the renderings. Mint is delicate when helping us to choose among different finishing, accessories and furnishings especially for the bathrooms and kitchen. As we progressed to finalise the construction details, Mint together with her carpenter, were very meticulous and immaculate in their consideration and selection of materials. When detailing shop drawings, they were particularly accurate which is a requisite to ensure mistakes on the site are minimised. They are also credited for being patient when we need more time to evaluate options and make certain choices. It was inevitable that sometimes we changed designs after Mint and her team had developed the ideas to fruition. For as long as works on site have still not commenced, Mint always commit to her obligations readily to facilitate the change. As our renovation was substantial and involving a lot of reflooring works, we had to move out of the house to enable the contractors to work uninhibitedly. Naturally, a program had to be instituted to ensure all parties were fully aware of their responsibilities and observance to complete within the stipulated time. Mint has exuded a lot of professionalism in her management of the construction process. When required, she would closely monitor the progress on site and was relentless if she had to exert pressure on the contractors to ensure continual progress. There was a time during construction where we detected upon forming of the timber frame that size of the study table was too small. We requested for a change to be carried out immediately. Mint and her carpenter, without any hesitation, proceeded to engineer a remedial to effect the fulfilment of a practicable solution to meet our needs. That willingness to change amidst our constant impression on the team to accelerate the construction was commendable. The team was diligent in their delivery and completed the works to meet the time of handover in two-and-a-half months. Meter Square also maintained an excellent and reliable after-sales service. During the Defects Liability Period, Mint was dependable and always respond promptly to calls to attend to defects or any malfunction of the installation. Any minor issues emanating from deficient workmanship were never refuted or disputed whereby her contractors would unquestionably return responsibly to rectify them. We were constantly assured of trustworthiness; the respect and significance Meter Square ascribes to their clients was undeniably apparent. Overall, we reiterate the service and output by Meter Square are indeed laudable. We are very pleased with the outcome of the renovation and appreciate Mint and her team from Meter Square for transforming and modernizing the house to yield a very distinctive feel and as such, this testimony is written to hail their professionalism and efforts.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

It’s been exactly a month since the completion and handover of the renovation of our new penthouse done by Meter Square, and we are more than pleased to give them a BIG thumbs up for everything that May, Mint and the entire team has done for us. They have demonstrated their ability to not only design but project manage responsibly and deliver to expectations. We had selected Meter Square after spending over a year sourcing through various ID companies as well as speaking directly to selected contractors. Meter Square was the last ID company that we met up with in early 2017 and we were comfortable enough after speaking to May and Mint on the very first meeting, that we signed up with them immediately after. Uppermost in our mind, and one of the most important factors in our selection criteria, was that we wanted to work with people who are not only passionate in what they do but at the same time, demonstrate a willingness to truly listen and be open and flexible to ideas from our end. For a project of this scale to succeed, we knew it had to be a collaborative effort from both ends. So to test this with various IDs that we met up with, we mentioned the possibility of bringing over our existing Oriental furniture to be incorporated into the design to see who would be most willing to take on this idea seriously. And after our meeting with May and Mint, we knew that they would be the right company to help us design and deliver our vision. (*We ditched this idea of incorporating existing furniture soon after ) The renovation progressed very well, and as new ideas and opportunities presented themselves, we were so comfortable with the work done by the team that we were more than willing to bring forward additional scope of work that was originally meant to be done at a later phase. Meter Square took on this challenge without complaint and seamlessly incorporated the additions into their schedule without any hesitation. Throughout our interactions with Meter Square, we had been consistently impressed with May’s design experience and in particular her discipline and meticulous documentation approach. She believes that good and proper documentation serves as an important communication tool so that there are no misunderstandings between all parties. Given the scope of our renovation, we believe this to be one of the critical success factors. We were also very happy with Mint’s follow through of the actual renovation works and her interactions with her team and sub-contractors. She kept the project on schedule and ensured that all works were delivered according to plan. She was highly responsive and even made several excellent design suggestions that we were most happy to incorporate. Special mention should also go to Ah A, the carpentry lead, who is a joy to work with - always smiling and truly dedicated in his work. He has brought forth many invaluable ideas and we are really appreciative of the work done by him and his team. In all, our renovation project was completed within three months, hassle free and to our satisfaction. We were really glad we had chosen Meter Square - they maintained their willingness to listen throughout the entire project, and proved themselves to be reliable and dependable. They showed flexibility when the need arose, and in our opinion, they delivered very well on a project that was not run of the mill. We would without hesitation return to them for our future projects and we would confidently recommend them to anyone. Thank you May! Thank you Mint! And please send our thanks and regards to the entire team that was involved in our project. Wishing you success in all that you do and may you keep the design passion burning in you.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Do research before meeting ID. In our mind, and one of the most important factors in our selection criteria, was that we wanted to work with people who are not only passionate in what they do but at the same time, demonstrate a willingness to truly listen and be open and flexible to ideas from our end. For a project of this scale to succeed, we knew it had to be a collaborative effort from both ends.

Thank you Meter Square for helping us build our dream home! We have heard of so many horror stories on home renovations gone wrong but we never have to worry about Meter Square. They are always prompt in updating us on the progress of our renovations and even after handover, they are still very responsive. Thumbs up to our ID, Lvin, who always tries to accomodate to our requests and May, who with her experience is able to advise us on the feasibility of our ideas. Even though their design may not be the most elaborate or fanciful in the market, you can be sure it will be practical enough for your everyday needs! P.S. we love our herringbone effect wall, our guests are full of praises for it too :)

After almost close to a year looking to renovate our house. We are finally done and the house is now everything we have ever wanted and more. My wife started hunting for an ID close to late last year and over the next 4 to 5 months we would have screened and spent a lot of time on over 20 IDs ā€“ large and small, all with great portfolios and evidence that they will be able to give us the house that we wanted ā€“ until we finally appointed Mint and Louis from Meter Square. There were many close contenders ā€“ my wife and I having difficulty deciding had to construct a list based on the IDs personalities, passion for our project, their proposed layout, the overall grasp of what our taste is, responsiveness and attitudes towards our asks, project management and price ā€“ Mint and Louis came out on top. While many of the IDs were responsive and had good personalities Mint and Louis pushed the boundaries for it. Mint showed attentiveness and attention to detail. She also had a no nonsense, ā€œjust get it doneā€ attitude that we loved because it gave us confidence that our house will be good hands. Louisā€™s layout was a stand out winner among everyone elseā€™s because he combined our emotional wants with a practicality that suited the size and our daily needs, together they also made sure that no decision was done blindly and always offered advice for the most minute details concerning safety or practicality. They were an awesome combination and their strengths combined to form a strong trust we had for them which resulted in a house we couldnā€™t have been happier with. The house took a total of less than 2 months for renovation (they helped to speed up the renovation so we could move in before ghost month which wasnā€™t easy to do) given it was a complete overhaul combined with hacking. Nothing in the old house was left the way it was. Power points were redone, aircon piping, flooring, windows and plumbing. During the entire process Mintā€™s management of the project ensured a smooth journey, keeping us up to date, warning us of upcoming issues and solutions as well as also accommodating to our requests. Louis ensured that the colors we picked, fittings we chose and other household fixtures were suitable, practical choices. They brought in a super A team of professionals that excelled at laying wiring, laying lan ports in every room, planning and boxing up air con piping and fabricating and building solid carpentry. The carpentry in particular needs a glowing review as it was also another reason we went with them. Having seen previous work ā€“ the carpentry was way above the other IDs, felt premium, solid and were also refined. It didnā€™t feel cookie cutter like the others we have seen. It is also worth knowing that all this was done for a price that was competitive (sat in the middle of all the quotations we got but provided value for the things that mattered) The renovation flew by quickly and mostly problem free - some minor issues came about as well as certain major things like how we discovered the washing machine couldnā€™t fit after handover. Mint and Louis didnā€™t let us down again and even after handover ā€“ quickly rectified the problem within a week. Now one thing to note is that my wife and I are very particular and very critical. We very rarely have an ā€œanything goesā€ attitude. Everything is considered, reconsidered and double checked. If you are not 200% you donā€™t make the cut, we were spending a lot of money and wanted it to be worth every dollar - and the fact that we walked away from the experience being super happy with Mint and Louis is just further testament to the job well done from start to finish. Thanks Mint and Louis for giving us a house we love and making the entire process smooth and being a joy to work with.

Dear Meter Square Team, We would like to thank your team, especially Mint; for their hard work & excellent services rendered to our BTO in Yishun. My husband met a few IDs but Mint left him with a strong impression with her confident level & sharing on practical ideas to our renovation. Though our renovation is a simple one, Mint was responsive to our questions & showed her professionalism throughout the entire project. We are very happy with the carpentry work in our kitchen & master bedroom; not to forget the shoe cabinet that hides the bomb-shelter perfectly! We would recommend Mint & Meter Square to anyone consider renovation to their lovely home! Your truly, Matthew & Sheue Fen

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Hiring professionals to do work for you. Don't try to save money by making improvements and repairs yourself that you aren't qualified to make. Also workmanship and responsibility to work commitment is very important also. In addition, punctuality is very important to homeowners especially for the handover after renovation.

I first met May when I was on the hunt for an interior designer for my BTO flat. At that time, my friends (who were also on the lookout for an ID for their condominium apartment and have also engaged May’s services) invited me to go with them on a Meter Square house tour to take a look at the quality and workmanship of their completed project. During the house tour, I found May to be very forthcoming and enthusiastic in showing us around the flat, explaining in detail about how she had done up the place. She presented herself as a confident and experienced ID who was able to offer sound advice and answer my queries regarding home renovation. On top of that, the carpentry work of the house was done really well and the owner was very much satisfied with how the house turned out. After going around and surveying quite a number of interior design companies, my husband Robin and I decided to entrust our home renovation to May as we were convinced that she was the best choice among all those whom we spoke with. During the course of the renovation, she was highly professional and patient in listening to our needs and concept that we wanted for our house. Being first time house owners, there were many reno-related aspects that we were unaware of and May walked us through these matters during which her expertise in this field was clearly evident. During the initial meetings and brain-storming sessions, May was able to accommodate to our ideas while at the same time, infusing her good eye for design aesthetics – working within our budget as well. The process of our renovation was really smooth-sailing and I cannot thank May enough for making the experience such a pleasant one. May took our busy work schedules into consideration and never failed to provide us with regular updates on how the renovation was coming along by sending us text messages and photographs. Without a doubt, she has definitely helped to eliminate many hassles for us which we greatly appreciate. Our house was done up quickly (within a month actually) but standards of the work done was not compromised – this only reflected May’s efficiency and her capability of keeping to a timeline which she promised us, that we would be able to move in without having a long wait time. We have already moved in for about three months now and so far, family and friends who have visited our humble abode have been singing praises of the cosy house that May should take credit for. She has created a modern living environment infused with industrial elements which my husband and I had in mind right from the start. We are really glad to have made the right choice – it was great working with May and we would definitely recommend her to our friends who are on the lookout for an ID! Winnie & Robin

What do you look for in an ID? Creativity? Passion? Reliability? Professional? Functional design? Technical expertise? Service oriented? Value for money? Eyes for detail? And the list goes on. For us, it is simple. What we are really looking for is someone whom we can entrust our new home to. As simple as it may sound, this is probably not the easiest thing to do. To know whether someone is trustworthy or not will take us a period of time to walk that journey of discovery and then we put that to test. After 3 homes over a period of 8 years, we are so thankful that “May Chang of MeterSquare” has proven herself to be all that and more. May had won our trust over the years through the products and services she offers and she had demonstrated a high level of commitment and dedication to the work we had entrusted to her. We want to congratulate May for passing the test with flying colors and we like to appreciate and commend May for the excellent work she had done for us and for our family. In our opinion, it is a wonderful achievement for May to be able to retain a returning customer for the third time, especially in a market that's saturated with stiff competition and varied choices. We will not hesitate to recommend May to our family and friends. As we all know, everything comes with a price but for all of that, I would say it's worth it. We would like to take this opportunity to wish May and her team in MeterSquare every success in the near future and may they continue to give of their best to serve their customers in the many years to come. Happy Customers, Alex & Nicole Tham Dated 24 Aug 2016

When looking for ID, do not just look for the cheapest quote but understand what service and workmanship that the ID can bring along. A good ID always has a good team of carpenters and electricians that helped to get the job well done.

Having met with various IDs from different companies, May from Meter Square impressed us with her expertise and it did not take long for her to understand our expectations and how we envisaged our future home. It was an easy decision to entrust the renovation of our home to May and we are glad we made the right choice. From the get-go, it was clear that May was very experienced and knew how to marry creativity in her design with practicality. She was very receptive to ideas that we suggested and incorporated them into her design to the best of her ability. At the same time, she was quick to highlight any potential impracticalities. Furthermore, being a working couple meant that we really appreciated the fact that May was very organised in her scheduling of renovation work and she would inform us in advance if she required our presence for any delivery or appointments. May and her designer Mint would also constantly update us on the progress of the renovation with photos and this meant that we could leave the renovation process to May with a peace of mind. May’s attention to detail and quality meant that by the time we took over the unit after renovation, there was minimal reparation work to be done and we always had the assurance that if there was any unsatisfactory oversight, May would be the first to notice and get it rectified. As first time homeowners, we are glad that we engaged May and Mint from Meter Square as any initial trepidations we had were all unfounded. Thank you once again and we would not hesitate to recommend May and Meter Square to anybody looking to engage an ID for their homes!

Dear Meter Square Team : Waited patiently for the Downtown MRT Line at Hillview to be completed before embarking into our renovation journey. This was to avoid cracks and other unforeseen defects if it was done prior to the completion of the MRT construction. With the MRT headache aside, we were embroiled into a different headache. With so many Interior Design & Renovation firms, which one should we engage and what theme to pursue? We happened to chance upon my sister-in-law renovating her place and got the opportunity to review the price as well as the finished product. Their overall finishing and design was fine and gave us ideas for our place. We arranged a consultation meeting with them to discuss the overall theme. It was a pleasant meeting as they presented us ideas based on our desired theme. In addition, it enlightened us with the latest market trend. Based on the initial meeting, we signed on the dotted line. To help us visualise their design, they have provided us the 3-D design of what the end goal looks like. The 3-D design aided our decision and the overall design was done and dusted quickly. They also assisted us in the selection of the tiles, bathroom & kitchen accessories and make good constructive suggestions. As they are a one stop shop, it helped and eased the coordination burden of changing the air-con, electrical rewiring, fibre point relocation, etc. After ~ 2 months of patient waiting, we finally moved in prior to the Chinese New Year. The result was fabulous and we love the new design theme. During the Chinese New Year gathering, our siblings were amazed at the overall makeover and gave their thumbs up. Finally, we can say “Home Sweet Home”. Thanks to Meter Square Team, especially our ID May Chang and Mint !!

Hi, Meter Square : Two of our friends recommended May to us and told us she is a very detailed and meticulous person. True enough, she spotted several items that would require changes as it might cause inconvenience to us when we shift in. May was able to advise us on ideas and themes even after our project has completed! Throughout the renovation process, May gave us regular updates with videos, pictures and voice recording - without fail, even when we did not chase her or text her for updates. She did all the arrangements and did not even bother us much as she knew we both were busy at office. Engaging May was a wise choice and we are happy with the outcome. She was often onsite snapping us pictures of the renovation and providing us with updates which was much appreciated because of our busy schedules. May was the 4th ID we met, referred to us by word of mouth. It did not take us long to entrust the task of renovating our home to May and her designer, Mint. May was able to understand our expectations right from our first meeting. May impressed us with her experience and expertise, and was quick to highlight any potential pitfalls or design flaws. We were particularly impressed by her eye for detail, and ability to blend her creativity and practicalities into her design. She handled "crisis" well too when we met challenges. Being a working couple and with frequent travelling, May and Mint managed the flows and timelines to perfection. She was organised, giving us ample notice should she require us to be present for any onsite delivery. Apart from being a designer, she is also technically equipped. May and Mint kept us updated of the renovation process with photos. May's attention to details and the meticulous explanations of the invoices gained our utmost respect. Upon handing over, there were minimal repairs as most concerns and rectifications were addressed during the renovation process. We are glad we engaged Meter Square, and would not hesitate to recommend the team to anyone. Kudos to May and Mint, for transforming the challenging task of renovation into an enjoyable experience!

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

I would definitely recommend Elizabeth. Out of all the IDs we met, Elizabeth was the most knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. We felt most comfortable talking to her. She would listen to our requirements and provided suggestions when we were unsure on certain design elements. Throughout the renovation process, Elizabeth was quick to respond to our queries. Together with her team of contractors, she addressed any issues promptly and let us know of the progress regularly. The workmanship was great and we liked how the end product looked just like the 3D drawings provided to us.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

It is important to differentiate the must-haves and the nice-to-haves, as renovation costs could add up quickly. For those who are operating on a budget constraint, it would be good to inform the interior designer in advance so that expectations are aligned in terms of designs and choices of materials. Nevertheless, do not compromise on workmanship quality and choose a style that you are most comfortable with.

I would highly recommend Meter Square for the exceptional customer experience they deliver. From conceptualization, execution right up to after-sales service, they have not disappointed us. Have a 2 way relationship with your ID. Be realistic. Tell them what you want but at the same time be open and flexible to their recommendations. Priotritize what is most important to you and be very clear with your expectations. Do a lot of research prior to engaging an ID to source for ideas and review ID projects. An experienced ID who is passionate about their work is someone who is not afraid to offer alternative recommendations rather than agree with everything you ask for.
