We engaged Home Concept on the recommendation of our friends. Shawn was assigned to oversee the renovation of our home. He was detailed in the planning and scheduling and prompt in responding to our queries. Any feedback on the works was promptly followed up. After sales service was good.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Homeowners should look through websites like home renoguru to have a clear idea of the design concept that they like. This will make it easier and efficient when discussing with ID on their ideas.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Shawn is patient to explain the design concept and its practicality. He is always prompt in attending to queries and requests/changes. The whole reno process is progressing according to schedule planned with minimal defects, thanks to his coordination with deliveries and contractors.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Meet up with the interior designer and make sure there is good communication in terms of design concepts and budgeting to avoid discrepancies down the down.

We were glad that we engaged Neela from Home Concepts Interior & Design for the renovation of our unit. She is resourceful as she custom-designed the carpentry works according to our request. She has access to quality workmen who did a good job and handed over the unit on time. Because of her, we saved time and trouble. Based on our experience, we would definitely recommend Neela the ID from Home Concepts Interior & Design for renovation works.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

We felt it is beneficial to have a ID who takes care of the entire renovation works instead of engaging separate contractors. Buying and shifting to a new home is already stressful and therefore it is better to hand over the renovation works to someone who knows how to handle it professionally. It is also important that you engage a ID who is reliable.

I would strongly recommend to engage Ms.Neela Kale who worked with us for 2 months on renovating our condo unit. Throughout the renovation process she displayed a high degree of responsibility, ambition and integrity. She is very passionate and dedicated to her work and gave us a lot of creative ideas for our home. She has a very pleasant, friendly, outgoing and a confident personality that put us at ease . She always listened to our special needs with patience and focused on solutions that met our needs. She gave her inputs and guidance on color schemes, cabinetry, tiling, lighting and all accessories and her work is of impeccable quality and taste. Her attention to detail deserves a special mention. With Neela's assistance, our home has become a nice and modern space with a contemporary look and we received many compliments from our guests on her handiwork.She is a very practical interior decorator and delivered exceptional value and ensured that the project was completed on schedule.

As a home owner, Neela has added flair and style to our home with practical and creative ideas giving great value for money. If you are renovating, designing or building your home, it will be definitely worthwhile to consider Neela for her inputs.

I would recommend my ID Ms Neela, as she has MaDE MY DREAM COME TRUE. I am very happy with the way the renovation was handled. we had immense no.of meetings on choosing the design, and all materials for the reno. She had been extremely patient and extremely enthusiastic in giving ideas and choosing/changing the designs according to our requirement. I should appreciate her keen interest in incorporating even the smallest wishes of my children and we could clearly see her blazing passion in this field. Mr Patrick and Mr Daniel were also very co operative in all aspects . Thanks to Ms Neela and Home concepts for making me the proud owner of my dream home.

I strongly recommend Home concepts, as their quote was very competitive. They were able to handle quality work and deliver on time. Very accommodative and the after customer service is damn good.

Celia Tan from Home Concept is a reliable ID. Her design is unique and great. She and her team are very responsible and responsive whenever she is called. Strongly recommended.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Find a reputable ID, share your thoughts and preference with your ID. Close and open communication will help the ID to understand your personality better and helps in designing your place with heart.

We just completed our renovation with Home Concepts, and must say that our ID Celia has done a very good job in design and managing the project timeline. She strikes a good balance between her design ideas and our own unique tastes. We appreciate that she pays keen attention to details which is very helpful for renovation novices like us. Price is a consideration but most importantly you should also look for a ID whom you are comfortable to work with and can provide appropriate advice.

Yes. I have engaged this designer to design and renovate my second house and this speaks volume of the standard and quality of their service and works. Responsible and accountable are words that best fit them as I have heard many adverse reviews about other interior designers.

I would advise future homeowners to meet their future interior designers personally, communicate with them and see if you feel comfortable with them. Ask Around on the quality of their works, which is an important aspect in house renovation as it will be a nest which you will be staying for a period of time.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

keep it simple and neat under a design theme. do not spend on posh and expensive items, rather spend it on functionality and day to day usage of home furnishing.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes. Shawn is very responsible and pro-active when it comes to our renovation work. He has some good ideas for the design of the house and even helped us a bit for the choice of furniture to go with the overall theme. He is friendly and easily approachable and makes us feel comfortable to share our views. (Home concept office was a bit far for us, @ Jurong, but sometimes he offers to drive us there from MRT).

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

My advice to the new homeowners is that upon choosing your ID make sure the ID is able to deliver good workmanship especially the carpentry work. Also in my renovation experience I would like to highlight the few minor issues that I feel could be improved: 1. Consideration of placement for water heater in your service yard (obstructed a bit the hanger mechanism from HDB), 2. Shower glass screen in toilet check if it is leaking.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Strongly yes, Mr Goh knows his works well and delivers when needed. He did his suggestions/recommendations but not pushy at all. He is also good at working out with your budget and points out to those works which he thinks is less necessary. He is also fast in dealing with his workers. Compared to the previous ID/contractor we engaged previously, we do not have a single issue with Mr Goh. Bottomline, we are very satisfied with the service and quality.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

My advice to the homeowners is that always work within your budget and let your ID knows about it. As for time frame, I do not have any problems with Home Concept. However, my advice is from my previous experience, do not expect 100% that your contractor can finish the job by the deadline. Always have a slight allowance (plus minus a few days) as a rush work may never meet your expectation.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes, I will recommend my friends to Home Concept and the reason is because Shawn stood out differently from other IDs as he was candid in advising me what could or could not be done; what ID concept was nice/ suitable for my house…etc. He would advise me in a practical manner without over promising, but under delivering. He listen intently to my desired design theme, took notes of the details and came up with a few bespoke ID proposals for my selection. Cost and quality of design/ renovation work are often in parallel. As a customer, we would certainly be seeking for more from the ID but spending less. However, Shawn was different as he would try his best to fit my budget with my desired ID. Even if it was unattainable, he would provide alternatives yet achieve the kind of “feel” I would have desired. I was deeply impressed with Shawn’s patience as he would bring me around to source for the best and nicest materials that could make my house design looked extraordinary. I remembered an occasion when he accompanied me for about 2 hours just to find the best colour combination and quality of tiles that suited my house flooring. Shawn is very passionate about his work and he takes pride in his assignments. I would highly recommend Shawn as your ideal ID from Home Concept.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

When it comes to choosing an interior designer (ID) in renovating your ideal home, I opine that the reliability, trustworthiness, patience, creativity and practicability of ideas are utmost important traits of a good ID. For example, I dare say Shawn possesses all these traits that many IDs lack nowadays. More often than not, IDs are driven towards the amount of sales that they could bring in at a shortest possible time and put customer’s interest as secondary. While sourcing for an ideal ID, I had met several IDs who would hard sell their services and boasting their capabilities for ideas that were unattainable, impractical or expensive just to lure me into signing up their contract first. Some IDs may not be upfront and unethical to persuade you into signing the contract first and talk later; later did you realise that there are several hidden costs.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes, I will definitely recommend this designer as he is very responsible and very attentive to the works that is being carry out during the renovation stages. He is also willing to hear your concern and do a last minute change for us when the works was in-progress.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Before the start of any renovation, owner must know the theme that you want and shop for a few comparison quote before deciding to the one that you have chosen. Make sure the design company is able to show you a few units of the show flat and you can verify from there on their quality works that interior design company can provide. Most importantly is the durations that they can complete in a timely manner.

Yes , I would recommend Home Concept to my friends:

- Able to keep owner(s) update on the vital progress of the renovation project (e.g. completion of floor tiling works, completion of window works, completion of carpentry works, completion of painting works, completion of marble polishing works and completion of cleaning up after renovation works.

- Able to provide owner(s) with practical designs and solutions to home renovation works.

- Able to promptly follow up with defects during the course of the home renovation works.

- Able to independently run the project without owner(s) needing to worry about the progress of the renovation project.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

- Keep to the original planned budget, avoid exceeding the planned budget without very good reasons, unless the additional increase in budget is necessary to achieve the final renovation design or plan

- Spend time to compare quotations across several IDs. The cheapest is not necessary the best and the most expensive one may not deliver up to expectations. Owner(s) need to have realistic expectations with their given budget.

- Owner need to make sure that there is enough communication with the ID. Any rework will either add unnecessary cost and delay to the renovation project.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

I would definitely recommend Mr Goh as he is a very experienced designer and contractor having being in the business for decades. He is able to handle all situation very well and commands respect from the different trade he manages e.g. tilers, carpenters, electrician, plumbers, painters, etc. He is not pushy and will not ask us to purchase a product from certain preferred supplier. Above all, he gives very good feedback and is very frank when he thinks he can contribute. He is a good mediator especially when my wife and I have arguments over our differing wants. He responds immediately when we call him and even after he collected his full payment like for small errands like getting the special marble cleaner, etc. Mr Goh also incorporate simple feng shui in his design. He would tell us where is the house owner’s auspicious corners. We even celebrated Mr Goh’s birthday at ouor new home once the renovation was done.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

To allow some buffer in the contract period for changes to design along the way or waiting time for arrival of certain product which may not be in the market and require shipment. Also, to treat your contractor with trust. Our condo is a resale condo and thus a lot of things are old. We trusted Mr Goh to do an entire rewiring, replumbing and ripping out all the timber flooring so that we have a peace of mind when we move in. It was well worth it.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes, I would recommend Home Concept to my friends because Wee Kiat is a very efficient and responsible designer. He is not only patient with my concerns and requests. He is also very helpful to carry out my requirements during the renovation.

My advice to future home owners is that work with them closely about the budget and realistic timeline to deliver the project. By discussing with your ID about your desired ideas and designs, they are able to give you the best suggestions and knowledge on his ID skills and experience.

I will recommend Home Concept to my friends, Goh's designs are very practical, especially to families with kids. He is a very experienced & patient designer. He will advise us on things which need to be done & which need not be done to help us save costs. He is also able to manage our project without major hiccup.

My advice to future homeowners, is to request to see homes and concept which designer has completed renovation recently. This enable you to inspect the workmanship and decide on how u want your home to be renovated & ask for quotation nearest to your requirements so u know roughly how much u need to fork out.
