House Type: HDB 4-Room

ID Firm: Areana Creation Pte Ltd

Designer(s): Roy Lin

Budget: $40k - $50k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We made the correct choice of rendering Roy's services for our renovation after looking around for some time. Roy has been patient with us and advising us on the colors we should choose in our design of our home. Despite changing or mind for a couple of times (laminate, paint, design), Roy was always there to show and advice us on the dos and don'ts. During the renovation, Roy was there on-site to supervise daily and helped to notify his workers when there was any fault. We were always assured by Roy he'll rectify all defects if there is. This was put to test when the renovation was at the ending stage and his workers were there always there to assist us to touch-up the defects found. The defects we found were also not major and show-stopping. Overall, we were delighted with the service of Roy and glad to have chosen Areana Creation as our ID.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

ID Firm: Areana Creation Pte Ltd

Designer(s): ken

Budget: $10k - $20k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes, Ken is very attentive, he listens and understands our requirements, and also gave many suggestions to help us to save money but yet at the same time meeting the theme that we want to have for our home renovation. I don't think another ID would have given such good service, as we spoke to a few ID before we finally decided on Ken. NO regrets, and really grateful to him!

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

try to speak to a few IDs, to see if you are comfortable with them, and see what they can offer base on your requirements. Best is to find an ID who listens to you and gives helpful suggestions.

Designer(s): Mr Albert

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes and i actually did recommended him to 2 other friends of mine. Albert is approachable, open for discussion & will always give new ideas and option for us to think about & consider. His famous quote " You know brother i will always say i can do it" and he really do it.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Choose your theme wisely and do your costing / planning before engaging a contractor or ID to perform the renovation. Coordinate your timing with other vendors so you will have better flow on the renovation works.

House Type: HDB 4-Room

ID Firm: Areana Creation Pte Ltd

Designer(s): Roy Lin

Budget: $30k - $40k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Roy Lin has the characteristics of a good interior designer all new home owners are looking for. He has a good attitude towards servicing customers making sure his clients feel fully assured and knows what they are getting and most importantly he is responsive to questions posed to him via either phonecall or messenging. Responsive time is within the day itself or rarely the next day. Also, Roy, does not hard selling his services, he respects his clients and leaves the decision making to them.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Before you proceed to approach an Interior designer or even getting your keys, it is best that you and your other half sit down for a day and discuss about the concept that both of you want to for your new house. You should have a rough ideal of what theme your future house should follow. Such prior concensus between this couple will minismist panicing or argument on what they want when meeting with an ID. Also, for those couples who are also engaging a Feng Shui Master, be prepared that the comments made by the Master will affect certain parts of their dream home hence you in a dilemma of changing your layout or worst scenrio, sometimes you will have to change you entire concept of your home.

House Type: HDB 4-Room

ID Firm: Areana Creation Pte Ltd

Designer(s): Dennis

Budget: $50k - $60k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We would like to recommend Dennis Chen for diligently seeing through our renovation process till the end :) He was very patient and attentive to our requests throughout. When things went wrong, he tried his best to help us rectify as soon as possible, even if it means making multiple trips in person to our house. He also gave us practical tips that helped us save on unnecessary expenditure. Most importantly, we found him trustworthy and responsible.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

1. Check your air-con for water or coolant leakage before doing painting and cleanup. 2. Inspect the whole house in person before handover. 3. Communication with your interior designer is key: be clear in your preferences and do not confuse your designer

House Type: Condominium

ID Firm: Areana Creation Pte Ltd

Designer(s): KEN BONG

Budget: $30k - $40k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Sometimes, you have to take a leap of faith in some decision because I am sure every ID hunter would have gone for more than 3 companies to compare designs and pricing. Well, we were no different and in fact we hunted around 8 ID companies before deciding on Ken @ Areana Creation. Why ? It's because of my wife who felt more comfortable with Ken than the rest of the other ID companies. For starter, he's not the cheapest but he is very honest with what he was offering, letting us know where we should spend more on quality and where we could save on. He is also quite outspoken which most of time rejecting my idea, but turning those rejected ideas into inspiration to his design for us. We really enjoy our meetings with him, because he tries to understand what we really wanted and he puts it into the design. Once the design has finalised, it's time to move on to renovation. Well, time is gold and that was our situation. We told Ken that we only had 3 weeks to complete the whole renovation, when originally it was planned for 5 weeks + 1 week buffer. Ken was not only up for the challenge, but he managed to deliver 90% of the renovation within 3 weeks, and the balance 10% was completed over the period of 2 weekends. A rush job, but yet delivering quality end result. Throughout the renovation process, Ken kept us updated on the progress via our whatsapp chat group with pictures as well. He wasn't there everyday but he tries nearly every 2 days once, which was good for us as he had other projects to cover too. After the renovation has completed, and handover done (that was like mid August 2016), till today he still follows up about our place. To tell you there is nothing wrong is a lie ! A 3 weeks rush job, you are bound to expect something not done right, or something was missed out. But Ken was honest enough to honour the deal by arranging his people to come to our place at our convenience to fix those issues. I don't treat Ken as an ID sales rep, but as a friend today. We are glad to have selected him and we are confident enough to recommend him to anyone who asked us for any suggestion. To Ken Bong and his team from Areana Creation, we can't thank you enough for making our place, a "HOME" we wish to go back to everyday.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

- have an idea how you like your home to be. You won't get 100% but at least you will give an inspiration to the designers to try producing ideas to meet your requirement. - try to set a budget that you are willing to spend and have about 10-15% buffer as contingency. - be honest with your ID. tell him/her what you like and dont like because they don't have a mind reading capability. - allocate more time to your renovation period because ID need to book the worker's time, order materials, finalise the design with you and most importantly extra time to rectify / resolve any issues. - go out to the market and look for 3 to 5 ID and compare designs and quotations, but don't go for the cheapest because cheap things don't come good, good things don't come cheap. - try not to buy stuff from taobao ok ? You know there isn't any warranty and you don't want to go through the trouble to send back 1 lightbulb to China right ? - visit home expo / exhibition / fairs for electrical deals. - if you plan to use feng shui, please engage in the early stage before the design is completed. - don't expect your ID sales rep to be on-site everyday ! he/she has other projects too... but at least keep you updated 2-3 days once on the progress.

House Type: HDB 4-Room

ID Firm: Areana Creation Pte Ltd

Designer(s): Zeenn Tay

Budget: $60k - $70k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Yes, I would recommend Zeenn. I met up with several IDs before deciding on Zeenn to do the reno for me. He was sincere in taking up the project and I am glad that the process was a pleasant one. He provides constant updates and sent pictures through. This is especially helpful as we have work commitments and couldn't be onsite most of the time. I appreciate the experience and advices. Zeenn is able to patch up all the things I wanted. I needed space, ample storage, white brick wall, black barn door & a Liverpool themed display area. It's cosy and we love the end product.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Though I believe the cheapest deal might not be the best, however it is important to work within our budget and not be carried away. Don't forget the practical aspects of interior design and strike a balance between style and functionality. For areas where it didn't turn out the way you expected, if required and possible, do change it. Do not regret that you didn't amend it as you are the one living with it. Finally, enjoy the reno process.

House Type: HDB 5-Room/Exec/Mansionette

ID Firm: Areana Creation Pte Ltd

Designer(s): Roy Lim

Budget: $20k - $30k

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

I would highly recommend Areana Creations! Roy was a great person to work with - very responsive and receptive to ideas. He designed our place with our inputs, exactly as we wanted it. He gave us ideas on the interior design and also took us to the correct shops to buy materials from. The woodwork and tiling was perfectly finished. The electrical work could have been a bit better, but we have had no serious problems. The best part was that Roy really adjusted to our very tight timeline to move in. Everything was done as per schedule. Moreover, he gave us an itemised breakdown of all the costs, which we really appreciated. Many of the other people we had approached were not so transparent. We also felt that the cost was reasonable. Overall, we were very impressed with the work and service and would definitely recommend him.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

I would advice future homeowners to make sure they get a clear picture of the cost and timelines of their renovation before they work with anyone. Also, working with someone who is on the same page with you regarding the quality of the renovation you require is essential. It is always a balance between time and quality.
