HomeRenoGuru: How did you choose your interior design firm and designer?
Noel:My friend’s sister had just renovated her house, and introduced us to Benz Design. We looked at the design concepts on their webpage and decided to contact the company. We dealt with the owner, Benson Lo, and found that he was able to cater to our needs, especially with regard to time management. As we often come home quite late, he was willing to meet late in the evenings.
Bee Ling pursues her interest of scrapbooking on the lower counter-top, which doubles as a dining table
HomeRenoGuru: Did you have a clear vision in mind for your home?
Bee Ling:For us, we knew what we wanted for this house. We have been planning for our children for some time. So when we met Benson, we just told him briefly what we were looking for. We basically wanted a personalised space for every member of the family, according to his or her interests.
HomeRenoGuru: How did you find the renovation process?
Noel:Benson was very accommodating, and gave a lot of suggestions for improving on our ideas. We now have a lot of space – with a place for everything. For example, the hatch that conceals the oven is great. It is completely invisible until you need it. Of course in the process of the renovation, there were some hiccups. Benson assured us that they would be rectified quickly – and they were.
Bee Ling loves the master bedroom, complete with a study nook and a concealed pull-out full-length mirror!
HomeRenoGuru: What are your favourite parts of your home?
Bee Ling:If I had to choose, I guess my room would be the best. It has everything I want in there – including a study table, a wardrobe and a pull-out full-length mirror.
Noel appreciates this split-level counter-space with plenty of concealed storage space
Noel:My favourite is the corner outside the kitchen. It has a lot of split-level counter-space and dining space. We do so many things there, from cooking with the neighbours’ kids to my wife’s hobby of scrapbooking.
Budding ballerina Joie has plenty of space to play with her friends and practice her dance steps in front of the full-length mirror on her wardrobe
Joie: I love my room. It has plenty of space and a big mirror, so I can practice my dance steps!
Justin loves to watch movies on the pull-down projector in his room, which doubles as a window blind to keep out the afternoon sun
Noel: Since my son really loves movies, his window blind can be pulled down to double as a movie projector. It’s a really neat feature!
HomeRenoGuru: Would you recommend your interior design company and designer to other homeowners?
Bee Ling:Definitely!Benson is a very responsible, committed designer. In fact, he is the best I’ve seen so far.
Noel and Bee Ling: Thank you, Benson!
